To My Mother on Her Birthday

My mother has her degree in Psychology, has committed countless hours to practical volunteerism, and bakes the world's best brownies. Most importantly she has lived a life of integrity, demonstrating that you can live life by faith, that marriages can work even during trying times and a gentle selflessness that I can only hope to achieve. She has raised three daughters who are educated, strong in their faith, happily married and blessed with her gorgeous genes.

Mom, thank you for providing countless examples of how to be a strong woman, a smart woman, a good and happy wife and a devoted mother. Thank you for teaching me that it's ok to 'fess up to your mistakes and to learn from them, that being a wife and mother doesn't make you less creative, smart or happy, that inner beauty is most important, to stand up for what you believe in and to hold family close.  Thanks for always demonstrating that when the world seems to be crumbling around you and the night seems darkest to hold true to your beliefs and to smile.

I hope that someday I can be even half the wife, mother and woman that you are. Happy Birthday!
